Volume 5 | Issue 1 | Version 3.3
Happy summer from all of us at the Texas Computer Cooperative (TCC)! I certainly hope that each of you is getting to take a little break and indulge in a little fun. We do try to have some fun, but we're still working hard. Our Texas students mean the world to us.
Did you know that by using a TCC product like TxEIS you, too, are investing in Texas students. First of all, our Business and Student software is developed right here in Texas by Texans (no out-of-state outsourcing) for Texas students and staff. We are solely focused on the requirements of Texas schools, which is why we're the industry leader in TEA and TRS compliance.
Secondly, when you purchase a TCC product from your local service center, part of it stays right there at that service center to support the center's programs for the students of that region. With the TCC, you're truly shopping local!
So don't let your dollars go out of state -- use TxEIS and keep your money right here in the Lone Star state. Our students deserve every penny.
We at the TCC appreciate all that you do for our students and it is our pleasure to provide you with the tools that help you on a daily basis. We're sure you'll find some great functionality in the latest Release. Read on to find out more about it.
TxEIS Release 3.3 brings some upgrades, the main one of which is the Wildfly 10 upgrade, which includes a bump up to Java 8. The upgrade means even more stability and security. It's always best to have the most up-to-date software, whether it's your bank app or smart watch firmware, so upgrade to TxEIS 3.3 today.
You can now create public templates in the Asset Management User Created Reports. That means that you can create that report that four different admins need to run without them having to recreate it each time. That's a time saver, for sure. And the reports will look the same every run (well, the data will be different, of course). Professionalism at its finest.
Improvement for invoice payments. We added two fields (Cash Account Obj and Sobj) on the Payments maintenance tab in Accounts Receivable. These new fields allow you to specify the cash account to be used when processing an invoice payment.
Great news! Most TEAM reports were restructured for better readability. Here are a couple of examples:
The big changes here are in Attendance. Now when you go to the Maintenance menu and Student, you'll see a new option: Student Posting with Comments. It IS as exciting as it sounds. You can enter comments by student and period on ALL tabs. And there are a few other enhancements while we're at it.
See the promo video:
Comments: Read and write comments for students from each of the posting tabs. When data spans multiple or all periods, you can write a comment once and apply it to those periods. (See the video below for how to post comments.)
Student schedules: View a student's schedule from any posting tab. Just click the calendar icon and voilà.
Print Last Save button: View a list of the last 10 saved postings across tabs. That's right. Get your work done and then print what you need to all at once.
By Generic Program tab: Post absences by generic program! Did band have a field trip? Give them all the same absence here. And you can select all students across tracks and/or periods or per track and/or period. Basically there's a whole lot of flexibility built into this. (See the video below for more information about how to use the Generic Program tab.)
Combined tabs: By Date and By Date/Code have been combined into the By Date and Code tab. Pick a posting code for all students or select individual codes for each student.
Rearranged tabs: The tabs reflect a more common workflow for your convenience.
Attendance posting just got more powerful. Talk to your regional Education Service Center to find out more.
Also in this Release is a new feature for Copy Attendance Calendar. Now you can edit Campus Options before you copy to the To Campus Tracks. The minutes no longer have to match between campus tracks (from and to campus tracks) and you can add new tracks.
Check out this short video for more information.
Search for course-sections by period in Master Schedule > Campus Schedule. Another option to give you the flexibility you need.
Much like Grade Reporting, you can now search for course-sections by period. This is available in Master Schedule > Campus > Sections and Master Schedule Generator > Generate Campus Schedule > Sections.
We're always updating the State Reporting system with mandates so you have the most accurate reporting tool you can possibly have. Trust TxEIS with federal and state mandate compliance. Made in Texas for Texas schools.

Q. How long have you worked at the TCC?
A. 9+ years.
Q. What were one or two of your favorite projects?
Q. What’s something you enjoy doing when you get home from work or on the weekends?
A. I have made the financial mistake of owning a pool in my backyard. To support that burden, I swim in it with my family as much as I can. You see, it makes me feel like I am getting value out of it. Heck, I have been able to teach my youngest to swim, and swim well (I think), so, this Summer’s cost is almost justified!
Q. Do you have any pets?
A. Two dogs, Dingo and Pica. They are both rescues from the Animal Defense League. One of them might be the best animal I have ever cared for, the other is great in her own way.
