What's New in TxEIS 3.1 and txSuite 2.12?

There are a lot of changes to TxEIS and txSuite in this release. Below you'll find the newest shiny enhancements. For more information and these and other changes to the software, talk to your Education Service Center. They're there to support you.


One of the first things you'll notice is the number change. We're simplifying it. We'll have a release number and an update number. Clean and easy.

Business System

The Employment Statistics Survey page in Human Resources allows you to retrieve the necessary employee data to assist LEAs in completing the Current Employment Statistics Survey form for the State of Texas.

In Warehouse there have been quite a few new pages and reports to tell you about. 


The Create/Modify Bid page allows you to create a new bid with inventory items or modify an existing bid.

When you use the Request Vendor Quote page, you'll select vendors to be solicited with a request for quotation (RFQ) for specific inventory items.

In order to manage those vendor responses to bid solicitations, we created the Vendor Response page.

Next you'll need to award a bid to a vendor and create a purchase order based on the approved bid details. That's where the Award Bid pages comes in.

Check the status and details of existing bids with the Bid Processing Inquiry page.


BWH2000 - Request for Quotation Report

Added this report to generate a request for quotation (RFQ) to be sent to the selected vendors for each bid line item.

BWH2050 - Bid Tabulation Report

This report provides a list of bid line items with the solicited vendor information and vendor responses/proposals to each bid line item.

BWH2100 - Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Report

This will provide you with a list of bids solicited to HUB vendors with information about received proposals and competitive/noncompetitive grants awarded.

BWH2150 - Bid Status Report

Added this report to provide a status list of bid requisitions.

Student System


Easily see the number of pending updates you have for students both on the Registration landing page and on the Online Registration > Pending Updates submenu. Another time-saver brought to you by TxEIS.

Easily click through students alphabetically within a campus using the new Prev and Next links on the Student Enrollment page.

The Guardian Verified field allows a campus administrator to confirm that a person has been verified as the parent/guardian for the student. When this is selected, the contact's email address can immediately be matched to the email address entered by the parent when registering for a txConnect account. If the two addresses match, the contact can access and update the student's data in txConnect. It can also be used to bypass the normal email verification process for short-term events such as Kinder Roundup, or for a parent/guardian who does not have an email address.

Standard forms from txConnect parent portal can now be accepted or rejected on the Pending Update Details page. Click the magnifying glass to view the form (view in Spanish if available) and then accept or reject it as necessary. And if you do have to reject something, the program will generate and send an email notifying the parent that the change was rejected. Any comments are also sent so you can make it easy for the parent to know what they need to do.

Want to filter through all those forms on the Student Enrollment > Forms tab? Now you can when you select the school year (either the current or upcoming) and/or the type of form. Simply click Filter and you'll get only what you need. 

When you're ready to print those letters, make sure you click Preview Labels to make sure those labels look just the way you want them to.

Sort students by date of birth on the New Student Enrollment page.

And once you find that student and are ready to enroll them, you can check some new information by clicking Information Request. Whether the student was in foster care, was homeless, has had a prior retention, and what his last year's grade was are all now available.

Furthermore, you can find out which forms the student has submitted before you register them. Just click Submitted Standard Forms button and you'll get a list of the forms and the date they were submitted.

Add/Delete Courses

You can include withdrawn students on the page. A student will be added to the course even if he is currently withdrawn from the campus.

The Reenroll WD Courses field allows you to re-enroll students in courses they were previously withdrawn from. This action is performed for students who already have a record for the new course-section-semester (the one being added) and have withdrawn from that course-section prior to the Entry Date for New Course.

The Select Students button displays students in the selected course so you can select the students to be added, deleted, or withdrawn from a course. In the pop-up window, use the arrows to select or unselect students.

Grade Reporting

The Campus Schedule > Section tab in Grade Reporting have some nice additions. You can now search by instructor and the search field (for any search criteria) has incorporated autosuggest, making your job a little easier. Now you can see a list of students enrolled in a section for a semester when there is at least one student enrolled. The new field showing the number of withdrawn students (either from the course-section or the campus) works the same way.

Staff ID fields were added to Administrative Users and Teacher Profiles pages.

Registration Reports

SRG0720 - Online Registration Forms Related Reports

This is really multiple reports depending on report name you select. The Data Differences reports highlight discrepancies between data in txConnect parent portal and TxEIS (i.e., Ethnicity and Race, and Military Connected). Release Denials reports lists students who denied release of directory information to one or more publications or requestors. The Food Allergy Disclosure report lists only modified data columns. Other reports list students who have submitted forms and data.

This report show students who have submitted all, some, or no enrollment, registration, and student data forms. The numbers are by campus.


One of the biggest changes you'll see with this Release are the changes to Online RegistrationPrimarily it will be a step-driven process for both administrators and end-users. This means that the process for both setting up Online Registration as an administrator and completing it as a parent/guardian will be more intuitive and faster. From a clear starting point -- click the Start Registration button to get going -- to easy navigation -- Back and Next buttons -- to a defined finish, the newly rewritten Online Registration is a breeze to use. These are exciting indications of what's to come. 

New Online Help! It functions the same, but you'll notice some differences. For one, it's fully responsive, which means it'll look good on any device. And you can keep track of where you've been easier with breadcrumbs (trace). Still you'll find all the great help you've come to expect.


Primarily, the Online Registration process has been redesigned for ease of use. The wizard-style process walks parents through each form, step by step, with the option to review and complete the form, or save and complete later. And when you've gone through all the steps, you can submit everything to the district. It's a simple, intuitive way to get through those necessary annual forms. And simply click the student drop-down at the top-left of the page to change students.

Parents can now log on even when their email address does not match the email for the parent/guardian contact. That gives you access to your student's attendance, grades and other information. You won't, however, be able to update any information.

Need that form to fill out ASAP? No need to log in. A list of downloadable forms (and a link to them) is listed right on the login screen.

Now it's easier than ever to get your email verified for your new txConnect account. You can do it right in process of registering, as a matter of fact. Or you can do it later from the My Account page.

Step 5 of the new student online enrollment includes Standard Enrollment Forms with symbols that show if you've completed the form or not. And there's a progress bar showing how much you've completed and how much you have to go. 

Quickly see if registration is open. If you see the box with "Registration for yyyy-yy is active!" then you're ready to get your student registered. Take a look down the list of registration forms to easily see which ones you've completed and which you haven't. Then just click the yyyy-yy Registration button to be taken directly to the registration process.

On My Account you'll see a column that says Rights. A check mark means that your txConnect account matches your email address in the campus student record and that you're a guardian. An "X" means that it doesn't. This determines whether you can update your student's information or not (see above).

It's even easier to switch between multiple students on forms such as contact forms. You'll see student names listed as buttons or drop-downs.

txConnect Admin

Online Registration, a new page in Forms Management, allows you to create an online registration template using a wizard-style process. Parents will see the forms you select (and their order) when they go through Online Registration.

There is now a separate section for student data, which allows you to add forms. Parents are then able to update this information throughout the school year. This includes things like phone numbers or addresses -- information that might change halfway through the year.

Turn Online Registration on or off in txConnect Admin by using a beginning and ending date for registration.

You are now able to change the language context in the Form Editor so that you can maintain a form in multiple languages. Just change the language, add a name and any special instructions in the language you want to use. Then you can select Language Context on the Form Group Detail page to organize forms by language.

The new Group Type field allows you to label groups by how they're being used. Student Data is where forms that have to do with updating student data go. External (No login required), which is where you would put forms for parents to grab without having to log in to their account. There is also a New Student Enrollment group, which provides any static and standard forms that a district requires for enrolling a new student. These show up in step 5 of the new student enrollment process.

The statistic tables are now graphs! Easily see what's happening. Here's what's available:

With the User Activity graph, you can specify a date and view total txConnect users in the district or campus who have been active (i.e., logged on to txConnect) and inactive as of that date.

Student Accounts provides a count of parents in the district or camps with a txConnect account who have added at least one student to their account, and those who have not added any students to their account.

Student Enrollment in Portal indicates the count of students at each campus who are attached to a parent's txConnect account.

Get a month-by-month count of students who were successfully enrolled in the district via txConnect online enrollment, as well as those who have started the process and those who have submitted enrollment forms but do not have a record created in the student system with Online Enrollment. You can view up to 12 months of data.

Admins Dashboard shows you the number of district-level and campus-level administrative users at each campus.

New Help: In order to provide you with the best product possible, we're updating how we create Help. You'll still get the same great content (and it works the same: just click Help), but you'll notice some changes to the way it's presented. Right now it's available in Attendance, Budget, Grade Reporting, Registration, Scheduling and Test Scores, but will be rolling out to more applications this summer. Want to know some more?
